The Samsung Galaxy A8 is for those folks who need a Samsung phone, but won’t pay Galaxy S9 or S9+ money. It costs #449, and it is now a price for a more classy kind of telephone.
Each element of the phone is better or solid. However, it’s hard to recommend if rivals in the #350-#500 course are so powerful.
For an extra #20 you can get the more powerful OnePlus 6. The Honor 10 is even more sophisticated and powerful, nevertheless #50 cheaper. And despite costing a whopping less the Nokia 7 Plus carries.
Set on a Samsung? Then go for it. However, it isn’t among the contenders in its category. That we can make such comments about a telephone this caliber testament to accomplished mid-range telephones are nowadays.
Samsung Galaxy A8 – Layout
The Samsung Galaxy A8 is constructed of glass, like many 2018 telephones. The front is flat, although its back is curved, which makes it feel good in the hand. You don’t get the curve of the Galaxy S9.
Obviously, Samsung must make sure the Galaxy A8 does not upstage the S9. As such, it has a finish than some of its competitors. The glass on the back is plain, instead of sporting a end that is lively.
The Honor 10 gets the finish of all at this price. Its”3D” blue look responds to light as the telephone is moved. Even a sub-glass layer that casts S-shaped streaks along the back at the ideal angle is used by the Moto G6 Plus.
I think there is an audience for it, although the Samsung Galaxy A8 is simple, then. It’s available in blue, gold and grey, if plain black is a bit too conservative for you.
This gadget is made. Like most glass telephones, the two glass plates are joined by a filling of aluminum. Its color matches that of the back. Samsung has kept things elegant and simple, a strategy also found in the Galaxy S9.
The Galaxy A8 is wider – roughly 2mm – than the Galaxy S9. It isn’t for people that want the biggest display, for films and games. As such, it a rival into the Honor 10 compared to OnePlus 6.
The Samsung doesn’t pack as much tech as those telephones as we will see later. It will have IP68 water-resistance. Another rivals at this price tag, or none of those Moto G6 phones, have such water security.
You are able to shed the Galaxy A8 in water to a depth of 1.5 metres, and leave it for 30 minutes, with no causing damage. Although this attribute is not does sit if you contribute quite an outdoorsy life when many mobiles are intended to take care of rain, than it may sway you.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 has 32GB storage. For #50 less the Honor 10 has 128GB. The OnePlus 6 has 64GB storage at a price.
Samsung Galaxy A8 – Screen
Credibility is clawed back by many Samsung telephones of their use of OLED panels, because with their screens. These panels are really made by samsung and also the Galaxy A8 includes just such a device.
Their primary advantage is color saturation. If you want deep, bright and rich colour, you can not actually beat the Samsung Galaxy A8 at the price. It seems more vivid than the OLED OnePlus 6.
The issue? It seems at its best when brought closer to the display saturation you make it in, say, a Moto G6 Plus or Honor 10. I find the default option Display setting overly bold. It is not accurate, or particularly tasteful. There are Movie Photo and Fundamental modes that tame the colour.
This is however, OLED’s different appeal has waned a little today that the LCD displays in mid sized phones are excellent.
Nevertheless, OLED gets the telephone’s (near) always-on screens viable. As soon as the Galaxy A8 is currently in standby, it is going to show the time, battery level and a few notification icons on screen.
An LCD phone would consume a substantial amount of electricity in such a mode; the Galaxy A8 doesn’t. Only the parts will need to be powered since OLEDs have emissive pixels.
